Aimé Césaire (1913-2008) was a French Caribbean poet and playwright known for helping to establish the literary and ideological movement Negritude. Césaire’s books of poetry include Lost Body (George Braziller), Aimé Césaire: The Collected Poetry (University of California Press) and Return to My Native Land  (Penguin Books).
