Anne Carson is a Canadian poet, essayist, translator, classicist, and professor. Her most well-known work includes the verse novel Autobiography of Red (Vintage) and the criticism book Eros the Bittersweet (Princeton University Press). In 2026, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature “for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature.”
