Araki Yasusada is the name given to the non-existent Japanese poet, presumably invented by the American literature professor Kent Johnson. Scandalously, this invented work, which Johnson claimed to have found in recovered journals, and which he associated with the real Japanese literary circles Oars and Layered Clouds, was published in major literary journals, including Conjunctions, throughout the 1990s. Johnson denied the hoax until his death in 2022.
