Helena María Viramontes is the author of the novels Their Dogs Came with Them (Washington Square Press) and Under the Feet of Jesus (Plume), as well as the collection The Moths and Other Stories (Arte Publico Press). A 2007 Ford Fellow in Literature, she has also received the John Dos Passos Prize for Literature and a Spirit Award from the California Latino Legislative Caucus. Viramontes is Goldwin Smith Professor of English at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she is at work on a new novel.
